Alliance Forum
« on: December 07, 2011, 01:02:18 AM »

Would it be terribly difficult to create a way to delete entire topics and all of the comments under them in alliance forums? It can get cluttered and confusing with every topic from the beginning of time in your alliance forums, and the only way I know of to delete them is to delete every comment in them. Which is time consuming.

Shouldn't be too hard. I can look into that.

Alliance Forums threads can now be deleted all at once.

Do people use the alliance forums?

would it be easier to use the in-game messaging system (with some message thread type output)?

I recall the days when alliances would setup off-site third party forums, i think this added a lot. (there has been times when on-site hosting was offered, like: http://www.colony-wars.com/camir/ )

I use it, and my spy network makes use of it.

The forums are used. Separate forums are a hassle. Don't change it.

I'm pretty sure most alliances use the forum, I don't think it should be changed.

Yes! All the last alliances I've been in used them. Introductions, how to play, BRs... all the usual alliance stuff.

No. PM/MM is too different a service. Good to have both.

Offsite forums was good, but just doesn't always happen. (Takes plenty of players, long-term alliances, so forth.) In-game is good to have. That said, the forum forums (on-site but not in-game) was a good idea and prolly deserves a new go?

Offsite forums were always fun to use, though it always requires commitment to keep people together, but there is always the chance that it may cause some trouble, if someone decided to leave an alliance, and use their access to the previous alliance offsite forum to give tactical information and such to their new alliance.

My favorite instance of chance is when Ryukaizen and me accidentally (thanks Mex and greasy fingers) got access to the new Bloodlines section on the GSP forum and promptly had to be added to the BL roster. Then R3 was fun in many sadieistic and masochistic ways. (Wiz, shut up.)

I liked offsite forums, but I had trouble getting much commitment to them, so I stopped making them. With the built in alliance forums there really aren't many advantages to having an offsite forum as well.

My last alliance offsite forum was R7 but I still might. Don't think it's an outdated idea. While alliances and allegiances change... Um what?
