...but i dont like upkeep because as said by other people that it limits the lower peoples power and well we dont have enough active players for us to get 4-5 buddies to attack with

it is true that smaller players now can't have massive fleets, but hiding with a small population just leaves bigger players increase their lead except now they are limited by upkeep.

(of course now you could save and build a fleet which you can only upkeep for long enough for it to land on one of those bigger players...)

The bigger players are only limited to a portion. On the perma server I'm making 150k or so resources per tick, I have more than enough ships to defend seeing as how I am more than double anyone in the opposing alliances population.

And when you consider that Sinners have 2 players with that level of income and 2 more with significantly higher incomes than the highest non Sinner players combined with close proximity for defense it becomes more than simply getting enough off to beat one of them.  You are looking at almost always fighting 2 or more of them or only being able to get short strikes in.  Not impossible, but harder to do when real life intrudes.

I think that having the pop bonuses back up and running for a while now has helped more than anything.
