New ship ideas

there are so many different ways a new or revamped attack or ship stat system could look like, post your ideas here.

Note: this idea stems off the rock paper scissor concept, making one class of ships "super effective" against one other class of ships

I came up with a new tech tree to go along with mine:

                              
defence against ships:
lvl 1-(0%)
lvl 2-(10%)
lvl 3-(20%)
lvl 4-(30%)
lvl 5-(40%)

Note: essentially reducing the attack power of the attacker by X %
               
offence against targeted ships:
lvl 1-(125%)
lvl 2-(140%)
lvl 3-(150%)
lvl 4-(160%)
lvl 5-(175%)

Note: if ship has no main "target" it will target another ship at just 100% of its total base attack
                              
population:
lvl 1,2,3,4-(same)
lvl 5-(increase production 10%)
                              
recon:no change
                              
war:
lvl 1-[Basic unit (Hawks)]
lvl 2-[Advance (puns and "zappers")]
lvl 3-[Hightech (Scavs and "Strikers") + (enables Scavengers and Zappers to collect resources)]
lvl 4-[top Secrete (Nems and Dischargers)
lvl 5-[Super secrete (Lurkers and "Avengers") + (Enables Strikers, Nems and Lurkers to cloak)]
                              
                              
Note: personally it makes more sense to me, to make "economy" just another built in feature, rather than having to research it.                  

Note: I left out ETA reduction for I have changed it by introducing different ship classes which travel at different speeds.                  



and here are the ships which are just to show in general how the system would work and are by no means perfect.

note: mixed fleets will take on the ETA of the highest class         
            
note: all the ships should cost equal resources in proportion to the base offense/defense or just a little more expensive for their special ability         
            
note: the Avenger must be carefully created so that it is not overly powerful making all other units obsolete. It is meant as a filler ship to help defend and go against unknown fleet types.         
            
Note: the Class for each ship (perhaps especially the avenger) need to be reconsidered. Mainly based on eta's and what should be able to have an advantage over certain ships and what shouldn’t.

too bad, it would have been good to have a base of what was used and saw why it didnt work out. I figure the 3 classes would make it just interesting enough without making it too complicated. it simply makes you build each ship type evenly. as for the eta, its just an added suggestion since eta is still kinda controvercial.

I think PW moreso failed because of the Bonus scans. Players could just keep doing scans without the price of them going up as they advanced in population. However, if I remember correctly they didn't recieve good feedback.

And you wouldn't necessarily have to build them evenly, you could just target someone who created a lot of the ships that were weaker against what you built a lot of.

but then someone would do the same to you, so it would kinda force everyone to build even fleets

The epic fail that was PW didn't fail because of the classes

i don't really see the reason that no one liked the classes in PW
in fact, people talked down about them so much before they even had a chance to try them, that dux just ended up taking them out.

im pretty sure if people actually used them, it wouldn't have been that bad

I think that we should be able to capture ships too, not just destroy them and occasionally get some m/e from them. You wouldn't be able to use them in the current battle. They would have to return to home before you could use them. Maybe even have to do repairs on them using your resources and time but it would have to be only slightly shorter and cheaper than building new ones.

i'd say this is a goodish idea i think you should propose this to eldrad on the "To Do List" thread i just thought of an idea maybe customizable ships with a system like this(worked on pics for 28 minutes i give up :():

Hawk            30
Punisher        35
Discharger     70
Avenger        55
Zapper          50
Scavenger     60

Shop (you can buy more than one of each)

Ok, the easiest way to accomplish my last post is to create a new ship that is designed specifically for capturing ships. So here's my proposal...

The Raider
Offense - 7 (same as scavenger)
Defense - 8 (slightly higher than scavenger but because of the cost you should get more value)
ETA - 10 ticks (a ship this cool shouldn't come easy)
Cost - 450/650 or 650/450 (it shouldn't be cheap either)
Tech level - 4
Special ability - 1/10 chance of capturing one ship (random but it shouldn't go by the number of ships in the battle or it would almost always capture hawks) per tick.

NO WAY!!! thats way too expensive for only having 1/10 chance of getting 1 ship

As for these i shall propose a good price, ETA and Offense and Defense(depending on ability) so:

Raider                520:530                      7                 9               8-10(25% chance of capturing 15 ships, 40% chance of capturing 10, 50% chance of capturing 5, 75% chance of capturing 2, i think this is good as it only has a large chance of a capturing a few and a tiny chance of capturing a few more)

i'll soon think of more ideas and post them......

i would like to see all the technologies and abilities change, but i think some consistency would be good for this game

i dont really see the point in new technologies maybe just a change like this:
Raider needs 4 War + Offense 3
Repairer needs 3 War + Defense 4

thats a simple change and wouldn't do much harm to anyone... the only prob is to make the changes we would have to wait until there is a new round or everything would go bonkers.
