i like the a idea where the two commanders agree on a finance officer but instead of communication i think the 3 of them should get mass mail to galaxy.

You can get mass mail to the galaxy if you subscribe ;D

I think that my galaxy has never had a commander with more than 3 votes.
I think that my current galaxy had a dead planet as a commander for over two weeks because there were only 3 active players.
I think that this is a bad idea all around and I do not support it.

But, hell, if it somehow encourages the stronger players to attempt to communicate with and garner the votes of new people, then that's a goal in itself.  My main concern is people starting ghost accounts through tor and proxy routers, voting themselves in, and being the kind of bastard that such actions would imply.  Dead planet's votes still count.

Oh!  Here's an idea!  Votes count more for larger colonies.  Say every 200k in population counts as a vote, so a million pop planet gets 5 votes to counter out the single votes of 5 inactives.

or 5 votes to go with the inactives.

I think a good idea would be to hold elections every week or two, that way when everyones votes reset there wont be a bunch of inactives votes counting.
that and vote based off pop is calling a galaxy commander a dictator not a concerned elected official. It allows for diversity and change to happen.
I dont know how hard that would be to set up on the programers end, I would just imagine it would be a timer or some such.
But it would take the inactives out of the picture.

I like that idea on the elections :P. The current system is flawed, USUALLY the highest populated planets get all the votes at the beginning. And then when people quit those people who received their votes are very hard to take commander away from.

I know this from experience ;).

This in itself is an issue that should be raised to the admins, their has to be a way to stop this stuff. Though I do understand that it will be difficult being as the point to both tor's and proxy routers is so that u cant figure shit like that out, u know, only shit i want goes out and nothing i dont want in can come in, so it would be hard but their has to be a way.

In my opinion a galaxy commander should get mass mails and ways to help the galaxy like his own radar possiblely, but should not get any bonuses of any kind. At best a galaxy commander should want to help his galaxy, if he desires to do so, but dosent need any bonuses to do his job. I.E. he does his bit because he wants to help others, not for some bonus to exploit. This will make better galaxy leaders, and less reason for people to cheat the system. There are people who will always take up the challenge of doing this job despite its less reputable nature.

I realize that those people are few, but ultimately those are the people who you want in charge of the galaxy.

Just a thought

I think giving the GC some tools to help the newbies allong should help make the game stronger by increasing competition and decreasing early dropouts.
As for voting, what about making it so that everyone has to vote for somone other than themselves or they have no vote that counts?
