Improve the units

At the momment is only seems worth building punishers and maybe scavengers to gain some metal.

So does anyone have any ideas about making the units better?

That's a tricky one mex there will allways be one ship that is better to build than the others.

but if each had an advantage of some sort, it wouldn't be just punishers v punishers all the time.

I mean if hawks took 1 tick instead of 2 they'd be good if you were about to be attacked and wanted to boost your numbers.

I agree, but its pretty hard to get a decent balance going. we need some ships that are like really heavy in attack power but low in defence aswell, like suicide units, they would be wicked lol. Devastating to use but you couldnt just keep using them over and over again

You could go the other way as well having ships with brilliant defence and very little attack, so they could be used primarily to defend and also to absorb losses when you do attack.

or even jump ships that could be added to attacks/defence while they are in progress to add an element of surprise.

high defence units dont actually defend though, you gotta have high attack to defend well, low attack and high defence units seem quite pointless imo, they will just be used to absorb other unit losses if they are cheap enough, or am I looking at it wrong?

from what winawer told me its just attack v defence. The the attacks and defences of each get used to work out the losses.

Ooh. I like that idea... Although they'd have to be pretty expensive.

Maybe you could have a kind of ship that simply opens a portal from your homeworld to itself (it has no attacking power), so that if you send it with an attack that lasts more than one tick (and it survives the first tick, obviously), you can send reinforcements through it for the second & third ticks...

i don't like the discharger, i think it should be replaced, the name sounds kind of nasty, and nobody uses them.

Dischargers I believe have a higher defense to attack ratio, but not many people build them. The units Zhou was referring to were specific to what type of technology planet you researched to, like a tech planet, offensive or defensive.I know I might be beating a dead horse, but the jumpgates were nice and you could suprise attack just about anywhere. It would let you jump to any planet and then attack a different one by setting waypoints.

yeah it did, if there were open planets in the galaxy you could move there.

The moving of your planet and jumpgates were different, only tech planets could have jumpgates, while I believe anyone could move their planet to another galaxy as long as there was a dead planet to take over.Yes the jumpgates did help speed you along, jumping from a gate equipped planet in say galaxy 1 to a planet in galaxy 5 in 1 tick I think.I can't remember exactly, but I think both start and end planet had to be jumpgate equipped, but you could then attack a planet in the latters galaxy.
