I agree that a hint and tip area for noobs is needed...  Especially since there is no greatly detailed instruction manual that I am aware of...

I know when I was playing the Beta, there were a ton of things I was wondering... But there is too much info on the general forums to sift through to find usefull noob info... And I never wanted to start new threads just to ask what most would find to be stupid questions.  My alliance m8s have helped a great deal in this regard now, but an area like that would help those still getting started.

A new forum area for what would be considered basic noob q's would be good and wouldnt clutter up the main forums ppl do there chatting on.

Well if it is or isn't made all so called 'newbies' can feel free to PM me to ask for help or advice. Im on pretty frequently so I should be able to answer quite quickly.

Im sure that PIGs would also be willing to help out on the PM help side of things, he is always displaying his want to help out the new guy :P

heres the idea, you mods and admins elect someone who can help out the noobs PLUS manage the Newbie lounge and make sure it doesn't get overloaded with stupid comments.

This is actually one suggestion you made which i would definately be interested in and is a good idea, if the admins. dont do it, i would be more than willing to open up such a forum for questions and im sure i could find a few others to help, (not as some kind of alliance recruiting ground either) independant and fair answers to questions....

If this really does get started...

I would also love to see the manual get locked from general public and propperly updated...
That alone would have helped me tremendously, but most things I had Qs on where blank :( or totally lacked any specifics

well from the day i came back to CW i have really tried to get the new ppl to not be shy and know that its ok to ask anything they might be in need of as far as the game goes.

several vets have also offered to help in this effort too. all totally seperate from any attempts to recruit or any crew they might belong to. very admirable of all concerned.

im not sure that it needs to be another forum probably not.just a strongly modded thread
should be plenty.

but it does need to be if a new person does ask something that others dont ridicule them in any way. we were all new once and im pretty sure win could make us all feel real new again too. so there are no silly or dumb questions.

yeah a manual would help but sometimes what a person needs is hard to find in even the best of howto guides. plus some will not read it even if its there for them. CW is not stactic so a manual would also be a constant work in progress.

we do all welcome new players thats a given. how best to guide them? im not sure really as
to how best to do it i guess. lets talk about more.

Personally, from someone who looked a little through threads... Just a thread wont help to many things going on... way too much info

A whole new forum is way too overboard as well...

I personally think just a new section would be helpfull... Maybe entitled
"New to The Game -- Noobie Questions Welcomed"  Or whatever

That would be a big welcome sign... First thread should be stickied and say what the general purpose is of the section is for... basically a welcome newbie statement... then those vets could introduce themselves or something and explain that it is monitored by them but all help remains objective and nuetral

Something like that would have been FANTASTIC for when I was getting my feet wet  ;D

the one i started back when was "New to CW?" but i did not know it could be stickied
master even posted a question in there i think and reno gave him good advice the same day.

so maybe if its just permanent on first page. it seemed to work ok before.

And heavily self-monitored to kill side chats...

BUT... A new section would allow common q threads so same q isnt answered 12 times... A quick review through topics in that section might help...

Just stick the wecome topic and introduction section so its understood... hey, any q in this forum anout the game is welcome, regardless of how simple it might seem... Or something like that in the welcome

sounds like a good plan indeed. up front where new folks land first . operated by  a vet team overseen by main forum mods and our admin. i think it would be real good for the game to have clear concise answers quiclky.

ppl will ask more if they see it working smoothly and may not have to ask at all if its organized right to where they can find if others have already asked about something.

im in if and when needed. i know reno said he was and ploppy too i think.

A new section would be best imo. In fact, exactly as Nietzsche describes it a couple of posts ago... :P
